when i was a jw my sense of security depended on being right, having all the answers, and i would feel threatened when i was finding it difficult to defend them.
i would then comfort myself with the thought "that even if it is wrong it is still a good way to live".
so why this post?

i have been thinking about this alot recently.
calling our god the creator by his first name jehovah takes alot of nerve.
my 10 year oll son doesnt walk around calling me by my first name.

So why this post? We should no longer need to prove another persons worldview is wrong in order to feel secure about our own. What do you think?

one of the books from the bible i still value is proverbs.
it's a collection of wise observations of life.
it causes me to think, which is a good thing.. however, i also know that among us former jw's are life lessons that can be reduced to that of a proverb.

i was disfellowshipped when i was going through my first bipolar episode.
several months before being disfellowshipped, i started to develop the symptoms of bipolar disorder: rapid thoughts, sleepless nights, etc., until i finally started having delusions.
i began to think i was jesus (literally) so i was disfellowshipped for apostasy.
My ex is bipolar and had the courage to seek medical help despite the fact it was frowned upon by the Org and her peers. One time she was suicidal and took an overdose.. told me what she had done and finished up in hospital. I rang her psych for advice etc and knowing the possible consequences did not involve the Elders. Later after she tried again.... she did not tell me but instead she told an Elder. He kept it to himself and did tell me. I knew her history. I was her husband. Can you imagine the possible consequences of this ignorant bastard withholding this information.

i haven't been here that long but from the time i've spent here, i feel very comfortable.
i've been on boards before (witness ones) where everyone is so opinionated, heartless and holier than thou....but this one is so different.
They belittle and put down and justify themselves with going 'by the bible'.
Comes I believe from having no sense of personal worth so they try to gain it at the expense of others.......... Anyway that's another topic......... Welcome girl and if anyone belittles you here I, and I'm sure many others, will stick up for you.
